Reptile shedding<\/strong>\u00a0is a natural and important process. From time to time, reptiles shed their outer skin layer because their skin does not grow with them. During shedding, the dead outer skin layer comes off. Some species shed it almost in one piece, while others lose it in smaller pieces. The shed skin is mainly made of\u00a0keratin<\/strong>. This is the same material found in human nails and hair. Shedding is not only important for growth.
