The panther chameleon (Furcifer pardalis) is one of Madagascar’s most spectacular reptiles. It is widely found in the northern regions of the island, from sea level up to around 1,000 meters in elevation.
One of its most fascinating features is its wide range of regional color variations. These color forms are often named after the nearest town or habitat, such as Ambilobe, Ambanja or Ankaramy.
The Nosy Be variety, for example, is named after an island near Madagascar. This shows just how colorful and diverse the panther chameleon can be.
