The spiny leaf insect (Extatosoma tiaratum) lives naturally in Australia and Papua New Guinea. In the wild, it feeds on the leaves of several plants, including eucalyptus species.
In captivity, however, suitable food can also be provided under local conditions. It is often offered blackberry, raspberry or oak leaves, which it usually accepts well.
