Dracaena guianensis, also known as the crocodile tegu, is native to South America. It mainly lives in swampy and seasonally flooded forest areas.
This reptile is an excellent swimmer and a skilled climber. It spends much of its time basking on branches that hang over the water. These spots are perfect for resting and staying safe. When it senses danger, it quickly drops into the water and escapes by diving away from predators.
