    Batesian mimicry

Batesian mimicry is one of nature’s clever survival strategies. In this case, a harmless species imitates the appearance of a dangerous or venomous animal.

A good example is the Honduran milk snake (Lampropeltis triangulum hondurensis). Although it is harmless and non-venomous, its striking colors can resemble the pattern of dangerous coral snakes. This similarity can confuse predators. Instead of taking the risk, they often avoid the snake and look for different prey.

Batesian mimicry is therefore not a form of attack, but a defense strategy. By looking dangerous, the animal increases its chances of survival.
