Henkel’s leaf-tailed gecko (Uroplatus henkeli) color change is a particularly striking adaptation. This unique reptile can change its appearance depending on the time of day. During the day, while resting on tree trunks, it often looks like a piece of bark. Its coloration and body shape provide excellent camouflage, helping it stay hidden. At night, however, it may develop a more striking, contrasting pattern. Even its eyes can appear orange or reddish in the dark.
