The bearded dragon (Pogona vitticeps) is naturally found in eastern and central Australia. This reptile is well adapted to dry, warm and varied environments. In the wild, it can occur in desert areas, semi-arid scrublands and dry forests. In these habitats, suitable hiding places, open basking areas and cooler shelters are especially important.
