The Eastern Death’s-head hawkmoth (Acherontia styx) is a hawkmoth species found in Asia, known for its unusual behavior: it has a strong attraction to honey.

What makes it especially interesting is its ability to mimic the scent of bees. Thanks to this, it can enter a hive more easily without being immediately recognized as a threat.

Once inside, it can feed on the honey found in the hive. This remarkable adaptation shows how surprising and complex survival strategies can be in the insect world.

New reptile arriving? This is why quarantine is important

    By Farkas M. Vivien2026.07.25.

Reptile quarantine is an essential part of responsible animal keeping. A separate observation period helps detect parasites, infections, feeding problems and stress-related symptoms before a new reptile joins an existing collection.
